Senator Gravel Strong in Indiana!

Following the second debate at the Indiana Libertarian State Convention, the Hoosier libertarians provided no clarity to identifying the favorites from the crowded field of candidates seeking the Libertarian Party nomination for President of the United States. Participating in the convention debates were the following:

  • Mary Ruwart
  • Mike Gravel
  • Wayne Allyn Root (Represented by Mark Schrieber)
  • Michael Jingozian
  • George Phillies
  • Daniel Imperato

As I stated above, the Indiana LP left no clear message of who they support for the 2008 LP presidential nomination. It should be interesting to see how the delegate allocation at the National convention plays out. Below are the straw poll results:

  • George Phillies - 22
  • Bob Barr - 22
  • Mike Gravel - 20
  • Mary Ruwart - 19
  • Michael Jingozian - 16
  • Wayne Allyn Root - 16
  • Daniel Imperato - 4
  • Barry Hess - 3
  • Christine Smith - 2
  • Steve Kubby - 1
  • Alden Link, John Finan, Jim Burns, Dave Hollist, Robert Milnes - 0
  • NOTA - 5

How is Gravel doing in getting the LP's nomination?

There isn't too much info on how many state nominating conventions there's left for the Libertarian Party before the national convention in Denver. How many are there left? How many did he miss before joining the Libertarian Party? What actually is the LP's nominating process, what's gonna happen in the LP's National Convention in Denver? Has Gravel actually missed out on some votes from the conventions prior to his joining the LP? How far or how near Gravel is from getting the nomination? The big picture doesn't seem to get transmitted to Gravel's supporters as much as I'd like. I wouldn't mind someone campaign blogging the answers to these question and outlining what the gravelutionaries can do to help him in this quest.

There are about 2-3

There are about 2-3 Conventions left, with the last one, to my knowledge, on May 12th, in West Virginia. It appears as though Mike missed basically all of the conventions. The candidates have been in the race for a while and have been to basically all of the states. There is no saying how far or near we are. No one knows at the conventions. You can be a complete outsider all the way to the convention and win the nomination. These straw poll results have nothing to do with the convention votes. Some of the people at these conventions could not be delegates, and many could end up changing there vote if they are stuck on to another candidate. Hope that helps.
